Academics is working with a friendly and supportive primary school in Slough that is looking to appoint a committed 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant. The Role As a 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with one pupil throughout the school day, providing tailored support to help them manage their emotions, engage in learning, and achieve their individual goals. Working alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral staff, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment. Your Responsibilities Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs Encourage positive behaviour and help the pupil develop effective emotional regulation strategies Adapt classroom activities to suit the pupil's individual learning needs Build a trusting, positive relationship that promotes confidence and engagement Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the school's wider support team to implement personalised support plans Record observations and contribute to the pupil's ongoing progress and developmentWe're Looking For Someone Who: Has experience supporting children with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs in schools, care settings, youth work, or similar environments Is calm, patient, and resilient when faced with challenging situations Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills Is passionate about helping children reach their full potential Holds an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain oneIf you're ready to take on a rewarding role where every day brings the opportunity to positively impact a child's life, we'd love to hear from you.
