Location: Any Nexus Health Group Site. Postholder will be required to work flexibly across locations and teams in line with service needs.

Summary of role: The Floater role supports both site-based Patient Services Advisor (PSA) functions and central Access Hub operations to ensure patients can access services in the most effective way possible. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a variety of teams, gain experience across different services, and develop new skills while helping patients access the care they need. The postholder will work where operational demand is greatest, with full training and support provided.

Main duties of the job

The Floater role supports both site-based Patient Services Advisor (PSA) functions and central Access Hub operations to ensure patients can access services in the most effective way possible.

The postholder will provide a flexible resource across Nexus locations and services, maintaining high standards of patient care, responsiveness, and administrative accuracy.

This role requires a high degree of flexibility. The postholder will be expected to work across multiple Nexus sites and services to meet operational demand. Duties may vary depending on service need, and appropriate training will be provided.

Greet and assist patients in using our services

Handle Patient enquiries courteously, efficiently and with empathy.

Undertake administrative tasks with care and attention to details.

Understand and work with the team to meet the key performance indicators for this role

Manage patient footfall and deliver face-to-face reception services at site level

Respond to patient queries (face-to-face and telephone) with professionalism and empathy

Manage appointment booking and maintain appointment systems accurately

Handle complex queries including amber and bypass line queries where required

About us

Nexus was formed in 2016 with the merging of established local practices in Southwark. We look after a practice population of more than 76,000 patients spread across our 8 sites. Our clinical approach is based on a foundation of clinical excellence, clinical leadership, and clinical governance shaped by the needs and challenges of our local population. We are a well recognised training organisation for future GPs and nurses. We are focused on the learning and development of our clinical and non-clinical staff.

We operate 8 GP Practice sites across north Southwark that are geographically close and well served by local transport hubs at London Bridge, Elephant & Castle and Canada Water. We share a single patient list but our patients are attached to a specific site and are looked after by local multidisciplinary teams which include GPs, Nurses, Physicians Assistants, Paramedics, ANPs and Pharmacists. Our site based teams are supported by Managers and local administration staff. Our GP Partners have overall clinical and administrative responsibility for Nexus Health Group and are supported by a Senior Management Team and centralised HR, IT, clinical administration functions

Nexus works closely with our local PCN and 2 of our GP Partners are PCN clinical directors.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with patients or in a customer-facing environment
