The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s dedicated economic development vehicle, a separate market facing subsidiary of the West Midlands Mayoral Combined Authority. Our mission is to build and promote an ambitious region that attracts investment, businesses, events, and visitors—fuelling job creation and improving quality of life across the West Midlands. Over recent years WMGC has driven significant outcomes—including 6,500+ jobs created, 80 overseas companies establishing themselves locally, and the successful landing of major business conferences and sports events—demonstrating our effectiveness in growing the regional economy.

Backed by the key public sector, University and private sector partners, WMGC is now becoming a broader economic development vehicle for the region. We are adding innovative services to drive productivity and growth —including support for high potential businesses, growth capital attraction programme, and new focus on driving workforce development and future skills.

The West Midlands Growth Hub is being launched in April 2026 as a new division of the West Midlands Growth Company with a new regional High Growth Service that will deliver relationship-based and specialised sector support to drive the growth of around 1,500 businesses that have been identified as having the potential to unlock future economic growth within our region.
