Accounts and Payroll Assistant Glasgow Up to £35,000 + Excellent Benefits 8 Month Fixed Term Contract with opportunity to go permanent. Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for a varied finance role where payroll is at the heart of your responsibilities? Our client is looking for an Accounts and Payroll Assistant to join their growing finance team on an 8 month fixed term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of payroll and month end accounting in a supportive, collaborative environment. Payroll will make up around 75% of the role, with the remaining 25% focused on month end accounting and wider finance duties. You'll join a busy team where no two days are the same, with plenty of opportunity to broaden your accounting experience. What's in it for you? * Salary up to £35,000 * Hybrid working with 2 days from home each week following initial training * 1 hour paid lunch break * Early 2pm finish every Friday * Annual bonus scheme of up to 5% based on company and individual performance * 30 days annual leave including bank holidays * Company pension * Private medical insurance * Life assurance * Electric vehicle charging points * On site showers * Supportive and collaborative working environment The Role * Manage and process the monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and responding to payroll queries * Prepare payroll journals and support payroll related month end activities * Complete weekly UK and international payment runs * Process monthly intercompany settlements and quarterly recharges * Prepare month end reports and corporate reporting schedules * Complete balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations * Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns * Maintain the fixed asset register and related reconciliations * Support weekly cash flow forecasting and treasury reporting * Assist with finance process improvements and ad hoc finance projects * Provide support and cover across the wider Finance team when required About You * Previous experience in an accounting or finance role with significant payroll responsibilities * Strong payroll experience is essential * Studying towards, or qualified through, a recognised accounting qualification * Good understanding of payroll processes and month end accounting * Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP or accounting systems * Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities * High attention to detail and a methodical approach to work * Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across the business * A proactive attitude with a willingness to take ownership * Positive, collaborative and adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation where you can further develop your payroll and accounting expertise while working within a friendly, supportive finance team that genuinely values its people.
