Accounts Assistant NG2, Nottingham £28,000 - £30,000 Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm / 4:00pm finish on a Friday Looking for someone to start as soon as possible Role Purpose We are looking for a proactive and organised Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team. This is a varied role that offers exposure to all aspects of the finance function, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the department while working closely with colleagues across the wider business. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organised and confident managing multiple priorities. Previous experience within a busy accounts environment is essential. Role Responsibilities * Allocate incoming customer payments and reconcile cash receipts accurately. * Manage credit control activities, including chasing outstanding debts and maintaining positive customer relationships. * Monitor client credit limits, review account exposure and assist with forecasting. * Reconcile and process company credit card statements, ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded. * Prepare and produce intermediary financial reports for management. * Complete monthly CIS returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements. * Prepare and process month-end accruals * Maintain the sales ledger, raising invoices, processing credit notes and resolving customer account queries. * Carry out compliance checks and support internal control procedures. * Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes. * Support the preparation of information required for external audits. * Offer day-to-day finance and administrative support to the wider accounts team. Skills & Experience Essential * Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role * Strong working knowledge of sales ledger and credit control * Experience with cash allocations * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy * Strong organisational and time management skills * Confident using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office * Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines * Strong communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach * Experience of sage 50 accounts
