Main duties of the job

As an ADHD Assessor, you will:

  • Undertake comprehensive adult ADHD assessments.
  • Gather and analyse information from patients and relevant third parties.
  • Complete high-quality clinical reports and documentation.
  • Present cases within multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Contribute to diagnostic decision-making.
  • Identify and appropriately manage clinical risk.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an effective and patient-centred service.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision, training and service development activities.

Crofton ADHD Service is an NHS commissioned service delivered by Crofton & Sharlston Medical Practice. We are committed to providing safe, compassionate and evidence-based care to adults referred for ADHD assessment and treatment.

Our experienced multidisciplinary team includes GPs, ADHD Clinicians, Assessors and dedicated administrative support staff. We pride ourselves on maintaining high clinical standards through regular MDT meetings, clinical supervision, audit and continuous quality improvement.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary

The ADHD Assessor will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality assessments for adults referred to the Crofton ADHD Service. The post holder will undertake comprehensive ADHD assessments, contribute to diagnostic decision-making, participate in MDT discussions and support the delivery of a safe, effective and patient-centred service.

The successful candidate will work within national guidance, local policies and professional standards to ensure patients receive timely, evidence-based care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive adult ADHD assessments using approved assessment tools and clinical frameworks.
  • Gather and analyse information from patients, relatives, carers and other professionals where appropriate.
  • Complete detailed assessment reports and documentation.
  • Present complex cases at MDT meetings.
  • Contribute to diagnostic discussions and formulation of care plans.
  • Identify and appropriately manage clinical risks.
  • Recognise and escalate safeguarding concerns in accordance with local procedures.
  • Signpost patients to appropriate services and support organisations.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using SystmOne.

Governance and Quality

  • Work in accordance with NICE guidance, local policies and service protocols.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice.
  • Contribute to audits, service evaluations and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of clinical governance processes.
  • Maintain professional registration and continuing professional development.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, GPs and external agencies.
  • Provide clear explanations regarding assessment outcomes and next steps.
  • Contribute positively to MDT discussions and service development.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Work within the scope of professional competence and registration.

Experience

Essential

  • Essential Experience
  • Experience of working within mental health, neurodevelopmental services or primary care.
  • Experience of undertaking comprehensive clinical assessments.
  • Experience of risk assessment and risk management.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate clinical records.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
  • Essential Knowledge
  • Understanding of ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of NICE guidance relating to ADHD.
  • Understanding of safeguarding adults.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, information governance and GDPR.
  • Essential Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to produce high-quality written reports.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competent IT skills.

Desirable

  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
  • Previous experience undertaking ADHD assessments.
  • Experience of using DIVA, ACE or equivalent ADHD assessment tools.
  • Experience within a Right to Choose ADHD service.
  • Experience of SystmOne.
  • Experience of service development or quality improvement work.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current registration with an appropriate professional body (NMC, HCPC or Social Work England).
  • Professional qualification in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Paramedic Science or other relevant healthcare profession.

Desirable

  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
  • Previous experience undertaking ADHD assessments.
  • Experience of using DIVA, ACE+ or equivalent ADHD assessment tools.
  • Experience within a Right to Choose ADHD service.
  • Experience of SystmOne.
  • Experience of service development or quality improvement work.
