Main duties of the job
The Administration Lead will be responsible for supporting the effective day-to-day running of the Cardiology administrative service, ensuring high standards of patient-focused administration and operational support are maintained across the department. Working closely with the Administration Manager, the post holder will oversee administrative processes, support workforce management and recruitment activities, coordinate departmental meetings, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
The role involves supervising and supporting administrative staff, monitoring workloads, maintaining patient waiting lists and tracking systems, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, and acting as a key point of contact for administrative issues. The post holder will use digital systems to improve efficiency, monitor actions and support the delivery of a high-quality service that meets performance targets and governance requirements.
Examples of decisions the post holder will make include:
- Prioritising and reallocating administrative resources to maintain service delivery during staff absence, vacancies or periods of increased demand.
- Reviewing patient pathway and waiting list information to identify risks and determine appropriate actions to support performance targets and patient access requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes, implementing digital solutions and monitoring actions to enhance efficiency and service quality.

- Knowledge of patient access and waiting list management.
