Job summary

The Knares Medical Practice is looking to recruit an advanced clinical/nurse practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team, to help us to transform and modernise pathways of care, enabling the safe and effective sharing of skills across traditional professional boundaries. This is a part-time position, working:

Monday 9am - 1pm

Tuesday 2pm - 6pm

Additional holiday cover and ad hoc sessions may be available, subject to practice requirements.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate may come from a range of professional backgrounds. As an experienced healthcare professional, educated to masters level, they will have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to take on an expanded role and scope of practice caring for patients.

The post-holder will:

  • demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers.
  • be practising autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred clinical care. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the directorate.
  • support new ways of working that emphasises a more efficient and patient-focused service, and will ensure the safe treatment, referral and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations in their area.
  • have responsibility for leading the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Essential

  • Professional registration with relevant professional body: NMC, HCPC or GPhC
  • Post-graduate qualification in specific speciality, or equivalent experience
  • Post-registration experience at a senior level (Band 7 or above) in specialty area
  • Evidence of on-going CPD
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform in stressful and complex situations
  • Sound clinical reasoning & decision making
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to inspire and lead a team
