Job summary

Bradford Student Health Service is a busy GP practice in Bradford with approximately 8,500 registered patients. We are situated near to the University of Bradford. We are a member of PCN 6.

We are a University Practice seeking to recruit a number of experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. We welcome applications from individuals seeking part-time working arrangements, with opportunities available on either a salaried or self-employed basis. Working patterns are negotiable, and we are keen to hear from candidates looking for anything from a one day per week through to a larger part-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and collaborative team that values professional development and excellent patient care. You should be proficient in all aspects of general practice nurse duties.

Main duties of the job

The successful Advanced Nurse Practitioner will work as an autonomous practitioner, diagnosing, managing, prescribing and discharging patients with illness or injury across all age groups including young children. This may be by face-to-face consultation, telephone or video consultation.

Registered Adult Nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), Paramedic registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Hold an Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification/Independent prescriber qualification

Can show evidence of using autonomous physical examination and assessment skills in practice

Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children

Knowledge and experience of QOF desirable

About us

Our clinical team consists of two GP partners, locum GP's, a Practice Nurse, a Health Care Assistant, two GP Assistants, three Clinical Pharmacists and a Pharmacy Technician. The clinical team are support by a Practice Manager, Operations Manager, Administrators and a Medical Secretary. Our reception team work as Care Navigators providing enhanced signposting and ensuring patients have access to the appropriate clinicians or services available to them.

The practice is a consistently high performer in relation to its contractual obligations including QOF and Quality Contract services.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Be an autonomous consultor

Conduct 15-minute consultations, catch up/admin slots

Able to manage acute presentations

Able to manage chronic conditions

Able to order appropriate investigations (bloods/radiology).

Prescribe safe, effective and appropriate medication as defined by current legislative framework

Utilise referral pathways to secondary care services, community services, locality services and organise emergency admissions.

Offer a holistic service to patients and their families, developing where appropriate an on-going plan of care/support, with an emphasis on prevention and self-care

Able to file pathology results

Manage patients across all age groups, including children.

No restrictions on prescribing.

Able to see pregnant women in regards non pregnancy related issues.

Able to assess and manage patients presenting with mental health concerns.

Experience

Essential

  • Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years post registration
  • Experience
  • Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and ongoing competence in all aspects of the ANP role.
  • Experience in management long term conditions e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, CHD.
  • Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to
  • maintain up-to-date knowledge and ongoing competence in all aspects of the ANP role.
  • Evidence of working autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of their own clinical practice

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse - currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council
  • Recognised ANP qualification at minimum of degree level or equivalent
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Desirable

  • RN Advanced Nurse or Clinical Practitioner programme accreditation
