Ready to play your part?

At AWE, it's not just a job, it's far more than that. Our shared purpose is to help keep the nation safe. Could this role be the opportunity for you to play your part?

As an AI Coach, you will help colleagues across AWE discover, understand and confidently use AI in their daytoday work. You'll deliver practical training, coaching and handson support, working closely with a Principal AI Coach to tailor guidance to each team's real challenges. You'll help people learn by doing, build confidence and curiosity, and show how AI can genuinely improve the way they work.

At its core, this role is about energy, enthusiasm and enabling others to see what AI can do for them.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support adoption of AI by delivering practical training and coaching that helps people apply AI to their own work.
  • Take time to understand team workflows, challenges and opportunities, using this insight to shape relevant training and support.
  • Help colleagues build confidence and curiosity in using AI tools, encouraging exploration and experimentation.
  • Deliver engaging, accessible training focused on real use cases and tangible outcomes, not theory.
  • Work closely with the Principal AI Coach to deliver coordinated enablement activity while contributing directly to delivery.
  • Contribute to AI communities of practice and champion networks, supporting knowledge sharing and engagement.
  • Help identify and demonstrate simple, high-impact uses of AI based on real business needs.
  • Stay up to date with AI tools and trends to keep support and training current and relevant.
  • Help users understand safe and appropriate use of AI, including its limitations.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Digital Technology, Data, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Practical experience using digital or AI tools to improve outputs or ways of working.
  • Experience delivering training, coaching or user support for digital tools or technology.
  • Experience working with users to understand problems, tasks or workflows, and tailoring solutions or support accordingly.
  • Strong communication skills, able to make complex AI concepts simple and relatable.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for technology and a passion for helping others learn and improve.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Some experience of business analysis activities (e.g. understanding processes, identifying improvement opportunities, gathering user needs).
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI tools (e.g. M365 Copilot, Power Platform or similar).
  • Basic understanding of business analysis techniques (e.g. process understanding, identifying inefficiencies).
  • Comfort with high-level data analysis - able to interpret simple data or trends to understand needs or demonstrate value.
  • Basic understanding of learning or adoption approaches.

Work hard, be rewarded:

We ask a lot and set the bar high because our work truly matters. In return we offer balance, with award winning benefits including:

  • 9-day working fortnight - meaning you get every other Friday off work, in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.
  • Market leading contributory pension scheme (we will pay between 9% and 13% of your pensionable pay depending on your contributions).
  • Family friendly policies: Maternity Leave - 39 Weeks Full Pay and Paternity Leave - 4 Weeks Full Pay.
  • Opportunities for Professional Career Development including funding for annual membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Employee Assistance Programme and Occupational Health Services.
  • Life Assurance (4 x annual salary).
  • Discounts - access to savings on a wide range of everyday spending.
  • Special Leave Policy including paid time off for volunteering, public service (including reserve forces) and caring.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site.
