Job summary

At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

Appointment Scheduler

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an appointment scheduler to join the Imaging Directorate, providing a comprehensive, efficient and effective service for the Appointment Scheduling Team. The post will include the scheduling of appointments ensuring that local and national waiting time targets are achieved and to deal with any enquiries, over the phone or face to face, in a courteous and professional manner.

Main duties of the job

Appointment Scheduler

The main duties of the role involve scheduling appointments, communicating to patients and monitoring the waiting list.

Communication skills, flexibility and reliability in order to contribute to the delivery of a first-class service to all users.

The post will involve contacting patients and scheduling appointments, dealing any enquiries over the phone or face to face, in a courteous and professional manner.

You will have excellent communication skills, a caring positive attitude. Reliability and flexibility are essential to the role.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for individuals wishing to gain experience in the hospital helping patients.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility and reliability in order to contribute to the delivery of a first-class service to all users. This will also include occasional weekend working.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 GCSEs / O levels (bands A - C) Maths & English or equivelant experience
  • IT skills

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 in admin / clerical / customer service related area
  • ECDL / other IT qualification
  • Experience in using CRIS

Experience

Essential

  • Computerised systems with the ability to use the Microsoft package
  • Handling confidential/sensitive information
  • Minimum of one year's experience of dealing with patients / public / customers, either face to face or via the telephone, on a daily basis.
  • Minimum of one year's experience of working in the NHS or other complex organisations

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an appointment booking environment
  • Experience in dealing with waiting lists and targets
  • Experience of working in the NHS

  • Excellent standard of literacy and numeracy
