Job Overview We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Qualified Asbestos Operative to join our environmental remediation team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe setup, removal, containment, and disposal of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) from commercial, industrial, and residential sites. You will strictly adhere to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all site personnel and the public. Key Responsibilities Site Preparation: Construct negative pressure enclosures, install decontamination units (DCUs), and set up warning signage and air extraction equipment in line with site plans. Removal & Abatement: Safely remove, encapsulate, or repair licensed and non-licensed asbestos-containing materials using approved methods (e.g., controlled wetting, shadow vacuuming). Waste Handling & Disposal: Double-bag, seal, label, and transport hazardous asbestos waste to designated secure waste points for licensed disposal. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, inspect, and clean all personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory protective equipment (RPE), and specialized tools before and after each shift. Compliance & Safety: Strictly follow Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR 2012 / HSE guidelines), RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), and company health and safety procedures. Site Decontamination: Perform thorough final cleaning (Type H vacuuming, wet wiping) of enclosures to pass clearance inspections. Requirements & Qualifications Certifications: Valid Asbestos Removal Operative Training Certification (CAT C / Licensed Asbestos Operative). Medical & Testing: Valid Asbestos Medical Certificate and current Face Fit Test certificate for full-face and half-mask RPE. Site Cards: Valid CSCS Card (Asbestos Removal Specialist or equivalent). Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in licensed asbestos removal. Knowledge: Sound understanding of health and safety standards, hazardous waste regulations, and environmental containment protocols. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy physical labor, work at heights or in confined spaces, and wear full protective gear and RPE for extended periods
