Help Shape the UKs Energy Future Assistant Materials Engineer Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.The purpose of the role is: To provide support to the materials engineering and laboratory teams for the marine and tunnels package. During the main works package this role will assist in ongoing testing and quality management activities, execution of demonstration areas and management of the laboratory testing services. To assist with technical support to the project team, including specialist materials engineering input and support the delivery of value engineering opportunities. Support the project delivery teams, providing expert technical support in materials engineering design, assurance and management Provide materials testing services during project delivery Develop and maintain relationships with relevant materials engineering consultants and suppliers, managing their input in the design, development, pricing and delivery of technical solutions on site and in tenders Support the materials team in materials risk management, identifying and recording best practice and areas for improvement on contracts Assist where requested, audits of construction and materials including testing and ensure all meet project specifications and relevant standards Ensure procedures and quality systems are applied Mentor members of the team to deliver high performance and a culture of continuous improvement Assist in challenging the specifications/proposals and re-engineering to develop alternative value engineered proposals Professional Experience in Civil/Structural/Materials Engineering Ability to collect, manage and present data in a clear manner Knowledge of construction materials (Concrete, Grout) Desire for continuous improvement and development Relevant experience in Civil/Structural/materials engineering CSCS Card holder Full UK driving licence Experience working within a laboratory environment or civil engineering project The CWA is a single delivery organisation made of up of the client (Sizewell C) and three parent companies - Balfour Beatty, Bouygues and Laing O'Rourke - which offer industry leading packages including market leading salaries, generous annual leave entitlements, pension scheme and other flexible benefits.
