This role involves the supervision of site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines. The Assistant Site Manager liaises with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to coordinate resources effectively and maintain smooth site operations. Regular site inspections, progress reporting, and risk assessments are integral to the role. The position requires proactive problem solving and a practical approach to managing site challenges to ensure successful project delivery. Job Duties Assist in planning and organising site activities to meet project deadlines and budget requirements. Supervise subcontractors and site operatives to ensure high standards of workmanship and adherence to health and safety policies. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance. Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, including site diaries, material deliveries, and labour attendance. Support the Site Manager in preparing reports on project status and any issues encountered. Ensure that all site works comply with relevant building regulations, planning conditions, and company standards. Assist in risk assessments and method statements to minimise hazards and maintain a safe working environment. Liaise with suppliers and coordinate delivery schedules to ensure materials are available when required. Address and resolve site-related problems promptly, escalating issues as necessary. Promote a positive working culture and effective communication on site. Required Qualifications Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card First Aid at Work certificate Full, valid driving licence Experience Proven experience working on new build housing projects within the construction industry. Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant site management role is essential. Experience in coordinating subcontractors and managing site logistics. Familiarity with health and safety legislation and best practises on construction sites. Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of construction processes, particularly in new build residential developments. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Effective communication skills to liaise with a variety of stakeholders. Competent in preparing and maintaining site documentation and reports. Problem-solving skills with a practical and proactive approach. Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety on site. Working Conditions The role requires working outdoors on active construction sites in varying weather conditions. Full-time hours are expected, with occasional requirements for overtime or weekend work to meet project deadlines. The Assistant Site Manager must wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times and comply with all site safety regulations.
