Walker Cole International is supporting a leading pharmaceutical organisation in the recruitment of an Associate Director Medical Affairs. This role will help develop, implement, and lead the global medical affairs strategy for my clients portfolio of products.

The Role


The role will act as a senior medical leader, driving scientific excellence, shaping strategic direction through insight, and enabling the business to operate effectively within a fast-paced pharmaceutical environment. The Assistant Director will play a key role within a small, high-performing Medical Affairs team.


Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver the medical strategy across therapeutic areas, aligned with global and local business priorities.
  • Serve as the point of contact, in leading the Medical Affairs function internally and representing the company externally in Medical/ Patient Institutions and Healthcare Authorities.
  • Lead the Medical Governance for the team and providing critical support in ensuring implementation, monitoring and enforcement of ethical standards
  • Ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance with clinical trial standards within the team and, in partnership with the Sales and Marketing Leads, compliance with relevant Codes of Practice
  • Leverage the Medical Affairs function by ensuring commercially focused Medical input into strategic market development including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), and ongoing market support, whilst balancing the highest ethical standards in corporate medical governance
  • Drive efficient execution of medical plans in a dynamic, fast-moving xwzovoh environment.


Experience Required


  • Degree in Life Sciences (essential), Advanced degree (e.g. PhD, PharmD, MSc) desirable
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with significant Medical Affairs experience (essential)
  • Proven experience operating at a senior level (e.g. Senior Medical Manager, Associate Director)
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment
