Talentmark is supporting a leading scientific services organisation in the search for an experienced Associate Director, Toxicology to lead and develop a high-performing toxicology function within a highly regulated environment.


This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced toxicology professional with a strong leadership and strategic background. The successful candidate will support in the delivery of forensic toxicology services to the UK Criminal Justice System, and oversee toxicology operations, quality, R&D and continuous improvement initiatives, while helping shape the future direction of the function through innovation, automation and technology-driven efficiencies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary toxicology teams.
  • Support strategic planning, operational delivery, and business growth initiatives.
  • Drive quality and compliance in line with international standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage technical projects, departmental budgets, and operational KPIs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies, automation, and process improvements.
  • Work closely with quality and compliance teams to maintain robust QA and QC systems.
  • Represent the toxicology function within senior leadership and performance review meetings.


Your Background

  • Significant experience and track record within a technical, highly regulated environment such as toxicology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, clinical trials or scientific services.
  • Strong proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong commercial and technical experience in analytical chemistry using LC-MS-MS type technologies
  • Degree in Toxicology or a related scientific discipline.
  • Knowledge of international quality systems and regulatory standards.
