VIQU have partnered with a specialist managed service provider who are looking to recruit two experienced Backup & Recovery Consultants to join their growing Projects and Professional Services team. We are looking for backup specialists with strong technical expertise across enterprise backup and data protection technologies, who have personally deployed and implemented solutions across complex customer environments. This is not a BAU backup administration or support role – the successful Backup & Recovery Consultants will take ownership of technical implementations from initial customer requirements through to configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, documentation and successful handover.
Key Responsibilities of the Backup & Recovery Consultant:
Deploy and implement enterprise backup, recovery and data protection solutions across customer environments.
Deliver customer projects from initial technical requirements through to implementation, testing and handover.
Configure enterprise backup technologies across complex infrastructure and datacentre environments.
Take technical ownership of backup implementations and ensure solutions are successfully delivered.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues throughout the deployment lifecycle.
Work directly with customers throughout implementations, acting as a senior technical point of contact.
Understand customer requirements and translate these into appropriate technical implementations.
Explain technical requirements and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical customer stakeholders.
Work with vendor support and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Produce detailed technical and As-Built documentation following deployments.
Work independently across multiple customer projects and technical implementations.
Understand how backup and data protection solutions integrate with wider infrastructure, networking, virtualisation and datacentre environments.
Key Requirements of the Backup & Recovery Consultant:
Deep technical expertise in enterprise backup, recovery and data protection technologies.
Strong hands-on experience with at least one of Commvault, NetBackup, Veeam or Rubrik.
Significant experience personally deploying and implementing enterprise backup solutions, rather than predominantly administering or supporting existing platforms.
Proven experience taking backup implementations through the full deployment lifecycle, including configuration, integration, troubleshooting, testing and handover.
Several years' experience delivering complex technical implementations within customer environments.
Strong understanding of backup architecture, recovery requirements and wider data protection principles.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex enterprise environments.
Comfortable taking technical ownership and working independently across customer projects.
Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly and professionally.
Good understanding of wider IT infrastructure and networking fundamentals, including DNS, virtualisation and datacentre environments.
Experience within Professional Services, an MSP, technology vendor or similar customer-facing environment would be highly advantageous.
