Job Description

Canine Hydrotherapist – Join Our Amazing Team!

Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.

Are you a qualified Canine Hydrotherapist looking for a role where your skills are valued, your development is encouraged, and every day brings the opportunity to make a genuine difference to dogs and their owners?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Canine Hydrotherapist to join our fantastic team.

You’ll be part of a professional, supportive and forward-thinking canine rehabilitation environment, working with a varied and interesting caseload and supported by experienced Veterinary Physiotherapists who oversee all treatment and rehabilitation programmes.

The Role

You’ll deliver safe, effective and compassionate hydrotherapy to a wide range of canine patients, including dogs recovering from surgery or injury and those requiring rehabilitation for chronic, mobility or neurological conditions, weight management and fitness.

You’ll have the opportunity to work independently while also being part of a supportive clinical team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality hydrotherapy treatments tailored to individual patients

Using underwater treadmill therapy confidently and effectively

Working with a varied caseload and adapting treatments appropriately

Maintaining accurate clinical records

Communicating professionally with clients and veterinary professionals

Working alongside our Veterinary Physiotherapists and wider team

Maintaining excellent standards of canine welfare, hygiene and patient care

Following health & safety, infection control and centre procedures

Lone Working

Although our centre is based within a vet practice some shifts will involve running the hydropool area alone, and we’re looking for someone who is confident, responsible and comfortable using their initiative.

You’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the centre during your shift. This includes opening and closing, preparing the centre, carrying out safety checks, monitoring and managing pool water chemical levels, recording water-quality checks, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, managing client arrivals and ensuring the premises are secured at the end of the day.

Full training will be provided on our procedures, equipment, water management and emergency protocols. You’ll never be expected to deal with an issue without appropriate support.

About You

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Canine/Small Animal Hydrotherapy

Eligible for registration with NARCH and/or IRVAP, in line with their current requirements

Confident handling dogs of different sizes, breeds and temperaments

Comfortable managing a varied caseload

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication and client-care skills

Professional, reliable and well organised

A genuine passion for canine rehabilitation

Comfortable taking responsibility when lone working

Previous hydrotherapy experience is highly desirable.

Why Join Us?

We believe that looking after our team is just as important as looking after our patients. We want our therapists to continue learning, developing and becoming the very best they can be.

We offer:

Competitive salary – dependent on experience and qualifications

Performance-related bonuses – because great work deserves recognition

One professional membership/registration paid each year – we’ll cover one NARCH or IRVAP membership/registration annually

Free CPD – we actively support your professional development

Free uniform and waders

Free on-site parking

Clinical support from Veterinary Physiotherapists who oversee treatment and rehabilitation

A varied and interesting caseload – no two days are the same

A supportive team environment – independence with experienced clinical support when you need it

Opportunities to develop your clinical skills

Standard UK employment benefits and holiday entitlement

More Than Just a Job

We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to turn up and run treatments.

We want someone who cares – someone who celebrates the nervous dog gaining confidence, the post-operative patient taking those first steps, and the owner seeing their dog improve.

If you’re passionate about canine rehabilitation, take pride in your work and want to join a team that genuinely cares about clinical excellence, patient welfare and its people, we’d love to hear from you.

Ready to Join Us?

Please send your CV and a covering letter telling us about your hydrotherapy experience, qualifications and why you’d like to join our team. xkybehq
