Team Leader – Full Time – Children’s Residential Home – AV2022 Location: Newbury Salary: £30,750 – £34,850 Per Annum, Dependent on Experience Hours: 37 Hours Per Week – Early (7am-4pm) & Late Shifts (2pm-10pm) About the Service Avon Search is currently recruiting for a Team Leader on behalf of a well-established not-for-profit charity providing specialist education and residential care for autistic young people with complex needs. Set within an extensive 50-acre site in Berkshire, this specialist service supports young people aged 5–25, helping them to lead healthier, happier and more independent lives. With a wide range of bespoke facilities and personalised support, the organisation creates an environment where every young person is encouraged to develop their skills, achieve their potential and access meaningful opportunities. The Role As a Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day management of a residential home, ensuring the health, wellbeing and individual needs of the young people are always prioritised. You will lead, support and develop a team of Autism Practitioners, modelling best practice and ensuring consistently high standards of personalised care and support. Your responsibilities will include: Line managing, coaching and mentoring a team of Autism Practitioners Supporting the recruitment and induction of new employees Managing staff attendance, sickness and other absences Supporting staff performance through regular check-ins and reviews Completing performance improvement plans and relevant risk assessments Implementing autism-friendly strategies to support learning and wellbeing Ensuring personalised support is delivered in line with individual care plans Providing personal care where required Promoting independence, choice, dignity and wellbeing Maintaining a safe, positive and nurturing residential environment Ensuring safeguarding procedures and responsibilities are followed Supporting young people to achieve meaningful and fulfilling outcomes About You To be successful in this role, you will have a genuine passion for supporting autistic young people and helping them achieve their individual potential. You will be a confident and compassionate leader, able to motivate, coach and support a team while maintaining consistently high standards of care. You will ideally have: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare At least two years' experience working as a Support Worker or within a similar role Experience supporting autistic young people and/or individuals with learning disabilities Experience of line management, coaching or mentoring small teams desirable Strong knowledge of the needs of autistic individuals with learning disabilities A good working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding Excellent communication and leadership skills A proactive, organised and supportive approach The ability to lead by example and develop others A full UK Driving Licence and the ability to drive Hours 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year You will work a combination of Early and Late shifts across a seven-day rota: Early Shift: 7:00am – 4:00pm Late Shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm Salary & Benefits £30,750 – £34,850 per annum, dependent on experience Full Time, Permanent position 37 hours per week Ongoing training and professional development Opportunities to develop your leadership and management skills Supportive and experienced management team The opportunity to lead and develop a dedicated care team Work within a respected not-for-profit charitable organisation A rewarding opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference to the lives of autistic young people To Apply For more information or to apply, please contact Lauren at Avon Search on (phone number removed) or email
