Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter Part Time | Term Time Only | Day Shifts We are currently recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter to join a busy catering team within an educational setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food service, and customer care. Working as part of a friendly team, you will support the day-to-day operation of a catering facility, helping to provide a quality food service to students, staff, and visitors. Hours Monday to Friday Approx. 9:00am to 3:00pm 27.5 hours per week Term time only Responsibilities Assisting with food preparation and basic kitchen duties Serving meals and refreshments in a professional and friendly manner Operating dishwashing equipment and ensuring crockery, cutlery, and kitchen utensils are cleaned to a high standard Maintaining kitchen, servery, and dining areas in line with food hygiene requirements Following cleaning schedules and completing routine sanitation tasks Monitoring and replenishing stock as required Supporting stock checks and storage procedures Ensuring workspaces remain clean, safe, and organised throughout the day Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures Adhering to food safety, health and safety, and allergen management procedures Supporting the wider catering team with additional duties as required What We're Looking For A positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to work effectively as part of a team Good communication skills Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required Reliable, punctual, and well organised Desirable Experience Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food service environment Food Safety Certificate (Level 2 or equivalent) Experience serving customers in a busy setting Experience working within education, healthcare, or contract catering environments Benefits Consistent weekday working hours Term time schedule offering excellent work-life balance Supportive team environment Ongoing training opportunities Immediate start available for the right candidateIf you're looking for a rewarding role within a professional catering environment, we'd love to hear from you.
