Job Title: Catering Supervisor – Band 3

 

Location: Craigavon

 

Duration: Temporary

 

Salary: Band 3 – £24,336 per annum

 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

 

Working Pattern:

 

  • 5 days out of 7, including every other weekend, with shifts on a rota basis between 7:30am – 8:00pm

     

    5 days Monday to Friday, with shifts on a rota basis between 7:30am – 8:00pm

     

Immediate start – applications required as soon as possible

 

Apple Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our public sector client for 2 x Catering Supervisors (Band 3) based within the Catering Department at Craigavon Area Hospital.

 

These positions offer an excellent opportunity for experienced customer or patient service professionals from a healthcare or hospitality background to join a busy catering team. The successful candidates will supervise catering services and staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, safety and customer service are consistently maintained.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise staff across areas including the dining room, coffee bar and patient meal service.

     

    Monitor and maintain high standards of catering services and complete relevant audits.

     

    Ensure dietary requirements and food allergen procedures are appropriately managed.

     

    Assist with the planning and supervision of staff work schedules and duty rotas.

     

    Ensure compliance with HACCP procedures and accurately complete and monitor HACCP records.

     

    Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control and presentation.

     

    Ensure personal and food hygiene standards are maintained by the team.

     

    Monitor the economical use of provisions, consumables and catering equipment.

     

    Report and record equipment faults, accidents, incidents and food quality concerns.

     

    Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, food hygiene, environmental cleanliness, waste management and food safety procedures.

     

    Participate in the training and development of new and existing staff.

     

    Assist with staff rotas and organise cover where required.

     

    Deal with telephone queries and complaints in line with Trust procedures.

     

    Undertake cash-handling duties when required.

     

    Assist with the management and recording of staff discipline, grievances and sickness absence.

     

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Ward Managers and Heads of Department.

     

    Work effectively as part of a team while providing a high-quality service to patients, staff and visitors.

     

Essential Criteria Applicants must have:

 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a customer/patient service role within either a healthcare environment or the hospitality industry.

     

    Willingness to undertake appropriate training, including Level 2 Food Safety in Catering.

     

    A current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and access to a car on appointment.

     

    Flexibility to meet the demands of the post, including working evenings and weekends as part of a rota.

     

    The ability to organise workload and prioritise duties.

     

    The ability to accept responsibility, use initiative, remain accountable and deal with difficult situations calmly.

     

    The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

     

    Effective communication skills.

     

    Good literacy and numeracy skills.

     

    The ability to supervise a team of staff.

     

    Knowledge of Health & Safety at work, including COSHH regulations.

     

Desirable criteria include:

 

  • Basic IT skills.

     

    Previous experience working within an acute hospital environment.

     

    A Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.

     

An Enhanced AccessNI check may be required prior to appointment, and successful applicants may be required to attend a Health Assessment.
