London Local Authority


Locum Contract


£70 - £75 p/h (Umbrella) dependant on experience



Sellick Partnership are delighted to be working with a well-established local authority in London in their search for Chief Legal Advisor to join their team on a locum contract. This role requires someone who can work full-time and attend the office as much as possible (ideally around 2-3 days per week).



The responsibilities of the successful Chief Legal Advisor will be to:



  • Working alongside the two other Chief Legal Advisors to manage the shared legal practice


Manage a busy team with diverse legal specialisms


Advise senior client officers and elected members


Supporting and deputising for a Monitoring Officer for any of the boroughs


Directly reporting into the Assistant Director of Legal and Governance and Director of Legal and Governance


Motivate and help develop the team




Our client is seeking a Chief Legal Advisor who:



  • Holds a current practicing certificate (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx)


Experience from a local authority is advantageous, you must be a strong manager with knowledge of public sector governance


The ability to work at pace and juggle competing priorities


Dealt with governance matters previously


Can attend the offices as and when necessary (usually around 2 - 3 days per week), as well as attending client meetings/committees as required
