Band 7 AHP Children's Research Associate- 15 hrs/week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered Allied Health Professional to join the Childhood Participation (ChiP) Lab, led by Dr Hortensia Gimeno, as a Children's Research Associate.

You will support the ChiP Lab's research programme, contributing to the NIHR-funded Co-SMART feasibility trial and developing patient and public involvement (PPI) within the Lab. Based at the Royal London Hospital, you will deliver research across the borough and wider London in homes, schools, community settings and at Queen Mary University of London.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will:o Design and deliver intervention-based research, including data collection, outcome measurement and treatment fidelityo Analyse and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data, and disseminate findings through publications and presentationso Contribute to research bids, ethics applications (including IRAS) and literature reviewso Work with children, young people and families, and lead PPI groupso Maintain research governance in line with GCPWe're looking for someone with:o HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist and 3 years' post-registration experienceo Master's level education in a research-related fieldo Experience with children with movement disorders, including cerebral palsy, and delivery of CO-OP or similar interventionso Strong analytical, organisational and communication skillsThis post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and Level 3 Safeguarding training.

Qualifications

Essential

• oRegistered Occupational Therapist
• o3 years post-registration experience
• oFulfils outline for Agenda for Change B7
• oMinimum Masters level education in a related field (research)

Desirable

• Research qualification
• Basic statistical knowledge
• Working towards a PhD

Experience

Essential

• oSignificant research or audit or quality improvement experience and dissemination of projects
• oProven successful delivery of research, audit or quality improvement/evaluation projects
• oExperience working with children and young people with movement disorders including cerebral palsy
• oAble to deliver Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) and/or alternative motor learning theory-based interventions
• oExperience working in community children's settings
• oExperience training and supervising occupational therapists in delivering occupational therapy interventions
