Job summary
Enhanced Optometry Services is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic clinical assistant to join our Colchester clinic, on a fixed-term maternity cover contract until April 2027. The role is offered on a part-time basis, for 30 hours a week, Monday to Thursday.
This is a varied and rewarding role, working closely with our clinical team to deliver high-quality specialist eye care.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical assistant, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, helping to ensure they receive a welcoming and professional experience throughout their visit.
Your responsibilities will include:
- carrying out preliminary clinical assessments such as measuring visual acuity, performing visual field testing and obtaining diagnostic images using OCT
- explaining the appointment process to patients
- supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic
- assisting with patient enquiries and appointment bookings.

About the candidate:
Essential
- You will have a friendly, approachable manner and enjoy working as part of a team to provide an excellent patient experience.
- You should be organised, proactive, and able to work independently when required.
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel and clinical IT systems is desirable.
- Previous experience in an optical practice, healthcare, or clinical environment would be advantageous, but most importantly, you will have a genuine interest in eye care and ocular science and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.
- Full training will be provided.
