Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician looking for a career change or your next challenge in an acute hospital trust?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our modern purpose-built facilities at the Colchester hospital site. This would also be a perfect opportunity for a pharmacy technician who is looking to make the next step up in their career. We would welcome both full and part-time applicants for this post.

The Dame Clare Marx Building houses our new elective orthopaedic centreand opened in November 2024.This exciting consolidation of service has realised wider investment and allowed the development of this new specialist Pharmacy Technician position. You will be pivotal in establishing and developing our service within this new development.

Our friendly pharmacy team are dedicated to nurturing, mentoring and developing our staff to reach their full potential. We provide pharmacy forums, tutorials and weekly ICS/ESNEFT delivered educational workshops. We support personal development plans, smart objective setting and opportunities for study.

ESNEFT has recently gone live with a full site wide implementation of the EPIC electronic patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration and pharmacy stock control system replacement.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide an advanced level clinical pharmacy service to elective Orthopaedic services in line with the pharmacy Key Performance Indicators and agreed clinical standards.
  • Ensure the delivery of an enhanced clinical service to Pre-Admission clinics within elective Orthopaedic services.
  • Provide a key level of support to the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for elective Orthopaedic Services
  • Provide ongoing clinical support and guidance to other pharmacy colleagues and the multidisciplinary team contributing to practice within elective Orthopaedic Services.
  • Assist the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for elective Orthopaedic Services in ensuring that all required medication safety and clinical governance issues are actioned and implemented in a timely manner within the speciality.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Previous extensive hospital experience inclusive of Clinical Pharmacy practice
  • Demonstrated experience of multi-disciplinary working at ward/clinical level and handling of high risk medicines
  • Previous experience of educating and training other staff

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working specifically with Orthopaedic patients

Qualifications

Essential

  • GPhC Registered
  • B-Tech in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
  • Regional Accredited Checking Technician qualification
  • Medicines Reconciliation Course

Desirable

  • Certificate in Medicines Management
