Location: Ely (CB6) Job Type: Permanent Hours: Monday to Thursday 6am to 2:30pm and Friday 6am to 1pm (39 hours a week) Salary: Competitive Job Reference: 36272 Polytec are looking for a skilled and detail-focused CNC Operator to join our Ely based client. The successful candidate will predominantly operate multi-pallet, 5-axis milling centres, producing high-precision, in-house machined components for production use. You will play an important role in ensuring machining requirements are delivered to a high standard, on time and in line with production demand. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC operator looking to develop their skills further within a high-precision manufacturing environment, with opportunities to progress into wider operator and machinist roles across the business. Responsibilities: - Load and operate multi-pallet, 5-axis milling centres - Load and operate a variety of CNC machinery as required to support the Machine Shop, including 3- and 5-axis milling centres, multi-pallet milling centres and Wire EDM - Ensure CNC machines are scheduled and loaded effectively to meet Kanban production demand - Unload and process components where required, including deburring, ultrasonic cleaning, stress relieving, rumbling and vapour honing - Assist CNC Programmers with proving out and producing first-off production and prototype components - Inspect components accurately using appropriate measurement and inspection equipment to ensure they meet required specifications - Maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail, particularly when working to micron-level tolerances - Carry out weekly machine maintenance and 5S activities Requirements: - Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role - Good working knowledge of Fanuc-based vertical milling machining centres - Proven experience working to micron-level precision and tight tolerances - Previous experience in CNC machine loading and operation - A good basic understanding of engineering drawings and specifications - Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively - A proactive approach to identifying, troubleshooting and resolving problems - Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team - A positive, proactive attitude with a strong commitment to quality, teamwork and the company's core values - Experience or knowledge of 5-axis milling, Wire EDM and working in Multi-pallet, high-mix, low-volume machining environments would be highly beneficial Please contact us as soon as possible for more details or apply below
