We have an exciting and rare opening for a CNC Setter Operator - after training on days the role will work rotating shifts. Salary: Competitive pa with discretionary annual bonus Benefits: 25 days leave + BH, rising to 27 days after 5 years Free parking OT when available Monthly pay, pension etc Location: Hoo, Rochester, Kent – having your own transport is essential Hours: Whilst training working days 7.30am to 4.15, Monday to Thursday, 12.30 finish Friday After training: Rotating shifts 6am to 2pm / 2pm to 10pm The role of CNC/Setter/Operator is responsible for setting and operating CNC lathes and machining centres using Fanuc and Mitsubishi programming systems - programming experience is NOT essential. CNC/Setter/Operator duties: * Responsible for machine changeovers and production runs based on machine utilisation and target completion dates and within set tolerances. Following works orders, drawings and material specifications. * Modify and create new programmes based on drawings and component demand on Mori Seiki , Tornado and Citizen machines. * Responsible for producing components to the dimensions and special features as stated on the production drawing and in-line with strict tolerances. * Using a range of measurement equipment including Vernier, micrometres, electronic height gauge, go and no-go gauges and SPC continuous monitoring system Training given. * Accountable for recording all quality and production data required during the manufacture of components. * Follow 5S principles; cleaning and maintaining own work areas to good manufacturing practice. * Supervision of the machine shop area and operators in the absence of the machine shop Supervisor. * Train others to use the machines as and when required. Qualifications/ Experience: * Relevant apprenticeship. * 3 years’ experience of CNC operating/ setting * Experience of 5S in the workplace. * Good literacy and numeracy skills, computer literate * Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment. * Read and understand manufacturing drawings. * Good communication skills, verbal and written. * Ability to work autonomously, using own initiative, managing oneself and workload * An organiser with the ability to prioritise and delegate. * Relevant CNC programming qualification. (Desirable) * Experience on Fanuc and Mitsubishi systems and Moriseiki and Tornado machines. (Desirable)
