CNC Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) Programmer / Setter / Operator About Northern Tool & Gear Company Northern Tool & Gear Company is a well-established manufacturing company based in Arbroath, specialising in the production of precision gears for a wide range of industry sectors. We are looking for a skilled CNC Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) Programmer / Setter / Operator to join our team. The successful CNC Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) Programmer / Setter / Operator will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC Vertical Machining Centres to produce high-quality precision components. Experience with Mazak machines is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right CNC Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) Programmer / Setter / Operator. Key Responsibilities As a CNC Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) Programmer / Setter / Operator, you will: * Program CNC Vertical Machining Centres directly at the machine using engineering drawings. * Set up tooling and load materials into CNC machines, ensuring an efficient production process. * Operate CNC machinery to manufacture components with minimal downtime. * Carry out first-off and in-process inspections to ensure components meet quality standards. * Identify and report drawing discrepancies and recommend improvements where appropriate. * Complete all relevant production documentation, including check sheets and job cards. * Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment. Skills & Experience Essential * Previous experience as a CNC Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) Programmer / Setter / Operator. * Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC Vertical Machining Centres. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. * Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Desirable * Experience with Mazak CNC machines (training will be provided if required).
