Job Description
5-6 months contract with a local authority
Summary
- Reporting to the Assistant Team Manager (Building Assets), this role is crucial for supporting the effective management and compliance of local authority-owned buildings. The post holder will collaborate with a team of building surveyors to ensure statutory compliance, oversee inspection programs, and manage construction and maintenance activities. This position offers a varied workload, including statutory inspections, asbestos management, contractor supervision, and project support, contributing to the safe operation and maintenance of the Authority’s property portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Manage statutory testing programs across all local authority buildings, ensuring inspections are completed in line with regulatory requirements and timeframes.
- Oversee and manage works arising from statutory survey reports.
- Lead asbestos management activities, ensuring full compliance with regulations and minimizing risk to staff, occupants, and the public.
- Obtain quotations, raise purchase orders, and supervise compliance-related works (e.g., asbestos removal, encapsulation).
- Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) prior to works commencing.
- Monitor compliance with tenancy and contractual obligations, reporting breaches to senior management.
- Implement and promote Health & Safety responsibilities across the division.
Essential Experience Required
- Previous experience in a customer service or contact center environment (desirable).
- Experience handling inbound calls and dealing with customer inquiries.
- Experience supporting customers with digital or online services (desirable).
Essential Qualifications Required
- HNC / HND in Building Surveying, Construction, Building Assets (or equivalent), or relevant industry experience.
- Proven experience in statutory compliance and testing within commercial/non-domestic buildings.
- Strong knowledge in one or more areas:
- Asbestos management
- Building surveying
- Construction processes
- CDM regulations
- Clerk of Works duties
- Mansafe systems or safety glazing
- Experience managing building assets and construction works in a non-domestic environment.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week.
- Location: The General Offices, Steel Works Road, Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, NP23 6DN, United Kingdom.
- Work arrangement: 3 days remote (home working and/or site visits), 2 days in the office (General Offices, Ebbw Vale).
