Job summary

Applications are invited for a replacement post within the consultant workforce at University Hospitals Tees, Clinical Neurophysiology department.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery and ongoing transformation of a high quality regional clinical neurophysiology service working within a dedicated and highly motivated team consistingof a fulltime consultant clinical neurophysiologist, a joint accredited consultant clinical neurophysiologist and neurologist, and a team of physiologists, specialising in EEG, nerve conduction studies, evoked potentials.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Provide outpatient and in-patient EMG services, EEG and EP reporting

Contribute to the development of Neurophysiology related Policy and Services

Provide supervision and education of more junior staff

Participate in the day-to-day running and administration of the department.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Relevant CCT or those on the specialist register through CESR or European Community Rights or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC

Desirable

  • MD or PhD
  • Training in appraisal techniques or educational supervision
  • Management training

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff
  • Substantive experience of stroke management in OP and IP settings.
  • Relevant experience in any declared specialist interest pertinent to the post

Desirable

  • Evidence of management experience
  • Other teaching skills/experience
  • Experience in counselling

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • IT skills
