Consultant in ICM & Anaesthetics with an interest in Research in AI
Job summary
The appointee will be expected with colleagues to run a first-class critical care andanaesthesia service, in line with established guidelines and policies. On-call cover will be solely for critical care. There is a separate anaesthesia on-call rota for theatres and paediatrics (covered exclusively by general anaesthetists).
This role is part of the first phase to change the delivery of critical care across both sites in the Trust. Initially this role will provide daytime critical care on the Sutton site (Daytime floor intensivist - DFI). This new role is required due to increased medical acuity on the Sutton site and to support the changes to treatment of our teenage and young adult cohort of patients (>16 years). This role will include morning and afternoon ward rounds of all critical care patients on the Step-up unit and all referrals to the Outreach team.
Main duties of the job
- The post is suitable for a candidate with dual-specialty CCT in Anaesthesia and ICM.
- Weekend elective operating lists are likely to be included in future job plans.
- The appointee will support the Departments in delivering clinical training, the appointee will be expected to undertake the necessary training to be a GMC-accredited educational supervisor as well as supervising clinical fellows.
- The appointee will be expected to participate in regular departmental, academic, audit and managerial meetings.
- Attendance at a minimum of 60% of departmental MDTs per annum is required as an on-going commitment to the post.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full and specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- CCT in Intensive Care Medicine (or equivalent)
- CCT in Anaesthesia (or equivalent)
- ALS certification
- PhD with post-doc research experience
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of at least 6 months experience in a tertiary centre with specialist oncology workload in both Anaesthesia and Intensive Care
- Experience in the development of research in machine learning / Artificial Intelligence for patient benefit
- Evidence of academic achievement, endeavour and or project completion leading to publication in peer reviewed media, textbooks or presentation at national and international meetings
- Post-doctorate delivery of AI / machine learning research for patient benefit
- Attendance at healthcare management Course or Management Qualification

- Evidence of commitment to education and training e.g. educational supervisor, courses and/or setting up an educational programme
