Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and supportive regional neurology service in the south of England based at the Wessex Neurological Centre (WNC) in Southampton. We are looking for a consultant neurologist to join our regional team in a role that is based purely at Southampton General hospital. We will consider any sub-speciality intertest, but have a particular need for Epilepsy and movement disorders.

Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
- Clinical experience of general management principles in adult neurology
Desirable
- Leadership experience
- PhD or MD
- CCT in Neurology (or expected within 6 months of interview)
Aptitudes & Skills
Essential
- Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
- Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
- Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English).
- Demonstrate good organisational skills including ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate the ability to be calm, compassionate, and able to respond efficiently to various circumstances, which may change rapidly
- Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Ability to travel between hospital sites or for necessary patient visits
