Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Oncology based at Ayrshire Maternity Unit, University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours

40 hours per week. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the delivery of comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological services
  • Provide specialist input in gynaecological oncology
  • Participate fully in clinical governance, teaching, audit, and service development
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues across maternity, gynaecology, oncology and wider women’s health services

Qualifications and Experience

  • Consultant level training and experience in obstetrics and gynaecology with a special interest in oncology
  • Appointed specialist training and experience relevant to obstetrics, gynaecology and oncology
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Demonstrated ability in clinical governance, teaching, audit and service development
  • Collaborative working skills with multidisciplinary team

Right to Work

To work in the United Kingdom, you must have the relevant permission to work. This is granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. NHS Ayrshire & Arran may be able to offer visa sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and other required criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis following interview and at the commencement of pre‑employment checks.
