Priory Hospital Roehampton has an opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team on the CAMHS ward.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.

You will also:

  • Take clinical responsibility for patients, leading multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, and treatment planning.
  • Act as the Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983). 
  • Lead psychiatric assessments, support admissions, and provide specialist clinical input to the multidisciplinary team. 
  • Contribute to clinical governance, service development, and strategic planning to ensure high-quality patient care. 
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, contribute to training programmes, and maintain CPD and revalidation requirements. 
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide cover across satellite sites when required.

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, Stockport is an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along Wilmslow Road and Cheadle Hulme and East Didsbury railway stations approximately 12 miles from the service.

Person specification

Requirements

Essential

  • Applicants must hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, along with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status. They must demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the speciality, the ability to work within and lead a team, and a commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and service improvement. Candidates should also have evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
