Mildmay Oaks has an opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team.
Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks, Hook, Hampshire is a low secure and level 2 rehabilitation service supporting both male and female patients, including specialist learning disability and autism spectrum services. It also provides adult and CAMHS services, as well as bespoke therapeutic placements. It is accessible by public transport, with Winchfield railway station approximately 12 miles from the service and limited local bus links. Due to the semi-rural location of the service, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.
You will also:
- Take clinical responsibility for patients, leading multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, and treatment planning.
- Act as the Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
- Lead psychiatric assessments, support admissions, and provide specialist clinical input to the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to clinical governance, service development, and strategic planning to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, contribute to training programmes, and maintain CPD and revalidation requirements.
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide cover across satellite sites when required.

Requirements
Essential
- Applicants must hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, along with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status. They must demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the speciality, the ability to work within and lead a team, and a commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and service improvement. Candidates should also have evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
Desirable
- Experience in a similar service line or specialist healthcare setting would be beneficial.
