An industry-leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced
Cost Controller
to join one of the UK's largest and most prestigious infrastructure projects. Working within a collaborative alliance environment, you'll play a vital role in maintaining financial control across a major geotechnical programme, ensuring accurate reporting, forecasting and cost governance while supporting the successful delivery of nationally significant infrastructure. The Role
Reporting into the Finance team, you'll work closely with commercial, project delivery and procurement teams to provide accurate financial reporting, monitor project costs and support commercial decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project finance professional with a background in construction, engineering or infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
Cost Control & Financial Reporting
Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts
Prepare accurate cost reports, forecasts and financial analysis
Analyse cost variances and provide meaningful commercial insights
Track committed costs, accruals and project expenditure
Support effective financial governance across the project
Forecasting & Financial Planning
Produce regular project forecasts and cost updates
Improve forecasting accuracy and financial performance
Support budget planning and financial risk management
Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency
Assist project teams with financial decision-making
Audit & Compliance
Support internal and external audit activities
Ensure compliance with project procedures and financial controls
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Assist with governance and reporting requirements
Promote best practice across financial processes
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with finance, commercial and operational teams
Provide financial insight to support project delivery
Build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to lessons learned and process development
About You
We're looking for someone with: Fully qualified
ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW
Experience working on major construction, infrastructure or engineering projects
Strong understanding of project cost control and financial reporting
Knowledge of NEC contracts and
Defined Cost / Disallowed Cost principles
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience using ERP systems such as Oracle or similar
Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Desirable
Experience on major infrastructure or nuclear projects
Experience within joint venture or alliance environments
Knowledge of Oracle E1 or similar ERP systems
Previous experience working with Tier 1 contractors
Experience supporting commercial and project delivery teams
