Course Leader - Motor Vehicle
Leeds City College are seeking a Course Leader of Motor Vehicle to join our School of Sustainable Technologies & Motor Vehicle, based at our historic Printworks campus.
Acting as the first level of leadership above direct delivery, your role is to ensure that curriculum delivery remains consistent, relevant, and perfectly aligned with both departmental expectations and industry standards.You will be responsible for the coherence of the courses under your remit, providing oversight of teaching quality and learner engagement to ensure a high-quality student experience.This role is about taking ownership of your cohorts and driving excellence across the curriculum.
The salary for this role is £34,869 to £40,410 per annum,plus a yearly market supplement of £3,000. In addition, you will also receive a one-off attraction payment of £3,000. (This payment is split into 2 halves – £1,500 will be paid on commencement of the role and £1,500 to be paid on successfully passing probation).
What You Will Do
- You will ensure Motor Vehicle course content remains current and aligned with awarding body and industry requirements, supporting the development of innovative schemes of work and learning resources.
- You will be responsible for meeting targets related to student retention, achievement, attendance, and positive progression.
- You will monitor the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment (TLA) at the course level, completing course-level self-assessment reports (SAR) and maintaining robust quality improvement plans (QIP).
- You will hold the first leadership responsibility for attendance, engagement, and behaviour within your courses, implementing early interventions and addressing concerns promptly.
- You will provide day-to-day professional support to teaching staff, promoting consistent standards and encouraging reflective practice across the team.
- You will conduct internal verification and moderation to ensure assessment standards meet both college and industry requirements.
About You
- You must hold a Level 5 Teaching Qualification(e.g., Cert Ed or PGCE) and a relevant vocational qualification or degree in the subject area.
- You should have relevant, up-to-date subject knowledge and substantial experience delivering Level 1, 2, and 3 Motor Vehicle courseswithin the Further Education sector.
- You possess the skills to manage student progression effectively and have experience developing creative learning materials that cater to diverse teaching styles.
- You are IT literate and have a solid understanding of internal verification and moderation processes.

- You have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate both learners and colleagues.
