Court of Protection Solicitor

Our client is seeking a motivated and qualified solicitor to join their highly regarded Court of Protection team. In this role, you will manage a caseload of welfare matters within the Court of Protection team, working closely with vulnerable clients and their families. Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing witness statements and instructions to experts

Briefing counsel and attending court hearings

Managing client meetings and case documentation

Providing advice on matters arising from the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection procedures

Supporting marketing efforts to raise the firm’s profile and expand the client base

You will receive a comprehensive induction and support from a designated supervisor, with opportunities for continuous professional development, including working towards supervisor status or obtaining Law Society accreditations where applicable.

Requirements

Qualified solicitor or Legal Executive (CILEX), with experience at a newly qualified level or above

Solid understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection procedures, and legal aid contract requirements

Ability to manage a caseload independently, with strong time management and organizational skills

Experience working with vulnerable clients and a compassionate approach to client care

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Law Society Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation

Experience of meeting the Legal Aid Agency’s supervisor status in mental health law

Experience in community care work or judicial review

Advocacy experience

A valid driving licence
