Position: Deputy Manager (Development Pathway to Registered Manager) Location: Edgware, Greater London (in person) Contract: Full-time, permanent Shift pattern: 2 days on / 4 days off, including 2 sleep-ins. Weekends and bank holidays required. Salary: £18.00
£21.00 per hour + £60 per sleep-in Reports to: Registered Manager A therapeutic childrens residential home in Edgware supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences. We are looking for a Deputy Manager who is ready to develop into a Registered Manager role. The post combines hands-on leadership with operational responsibility, safeguarding and high-quality therapeutic practice. Key responsibilities
Lead and support the staff team on shift, modelling high standards of therapeutic and relational practice
Deputise for the Registered Manager, ensuring the home runs safely and effectively in their absence
Oversee and contribute to care planning, risk assessments, daily records and statutory documentation
Champion safeguarding, manage complex behaviours and promote positive outcomes for young people
Support staff development through supervision, reflective practice and on-the-job coaching
Work collaboratively with the clinical team, social workers, education providers and families
Actively progress toward Registered Manager status (Level 5 Diploma pathway) Essential requirements (non-negotiable)
Full UK driving licence (clean)
this is mandatory
Minimum 23 years experience in childrens residential homes
Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Ideally working toward or holding Level 5 Leadership & Management
Proven ability to manage challenging behaviours and work with SEMH / trauma-experienced young people
Strong paperwork, record-keeping and organisational skills
Willingness and ability to work the 2-on / 4-off pattern including sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays
Genuine commitment to progressing into a Registered Manager role
Right to work in the UK
Ability to reliably commute to / relocate for Edgware Desirable
Previous deputy or senior experience in a childrens home
Experience of Ofsted inspection processes
Therapeutic or trauma-informed training Full UK driving licence is non-negotiable
