Join Our Team We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and motivated

Deputy Manager

to join our Residential Parent and Child Assessment Service in Reading. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable families and supporting parents to provide safe, nurturing care for their children. Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the service, ensuring

high standards

of care, assessment, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance. You will also support the development of staff and contribute to delivering high-quality parenting assessments that promote positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities Support the Registered Manager in the effective day-to-day running of the Parent and Child Assessment Service.

Lead and motivate the staff team, promoting a positive, supportive, and child-centred culture.

Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence and

assist

in

maintaining

Ofsted compliance.

Support the completion and oversight of evidence-based parenting assessments, ensuring reports are

accurate

, analytical, and completed within agreed timescales.

Quality

assure

assessments, reports, recordings, and documentation before submission to external professionals.

Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are consistently implemented, promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable families.

Provide staff supervision, mentoring, induction, and support with training and professional development.

Assist

with recruitment in line with safer recruitment practices.

Monitor and improve service quality through audits, feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Develop effective working relationships with social workers, local authorities, health professionals, legal representatives, and other partner agencies.

Support the operational management of the home, including rota planning, occupancy, resources, and

maintaining

high standards

throughout the service.

Ensure

accurate

record keeping and documentation in preparation for Ofsted inspections and external monitoring.

Essential Requirements Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (minimum) with a commitment to working towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People's Services), if not already achieved or equivalent qualification such as a social work qualification.

Experience working within a residential children's service or parent and child assessment setting.

Previous

experience in a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Assistant Manager, or Deputy Manager role.

Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures, child protection legislation, and Ofsted regulations.

Experience supporting or contributing to parenting assessments in a professional setting.

Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and report-writing skills.

Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional when managing complex family situations.

Full UK driving licence.

Must live within or be willing to travel to Reading/Berkshire.

Desirable Experience working in a Residential Family Centre or Parent and Child Assessment Unit.

Knowledge of assessment frameworks such as PAMS,

ParentAssess

, CUBAS, or similar, or willingness to undertake specialist training.

Experience supporting Ofsted inspections and quality assurance processes.

Practice Educator qualification or willingness to undertake further professional development.

Experience supervising and developing staff teams.
