Who we are

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is an organisation dedicated to honouring and caring for the graves and memorials of service members who died in the two World Wars. The work of the commission is not only out on the field, but in our head office too, which contributes to the meaningful commemoration of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

  • You'll lead day-to-day workforce performance, capability and conduct across the region - ensuring employees and volunteers are clear on expectations, well supported, and delivering against our operational priorities.
  • You'll build strong relationships across a dispersed team and turn regional direction into clear, practical action. This includes deploying people and resources effectively to meet commemoration and horticulture standards, and making sure volunteers are fully and safely integrated into day-to-day operations.
  • You'll play a key role in creating a consistent, high-performing environment - where people understand what good looks like and feel supported to deliver it.

  • Practical problem-solving skills and sound judgement
  • Ability to build trust and credibility quickly
  • Commitment to health and safety
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel is considered beneficial

In addition, we are looking for applicants who share our Values of

Commitment, Ambition, Respect and Excellence.

What We Offer

  • 25 days annual leave, rising by 1 day per year of service up to a maximum of 30
  • 1 privilege day, half day on Maundy Thursday, paid public holidays and paid time off between Christmas and New Year
  • Generous Pension Scheme, with CWGC contributing up to 10%

This role will close when we have received a reasonable number of suitable applications.
