Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Band 6 Radiology Deputy Sisters/Charge Nurses

We are looking for a motivated team player with previous experience in a range of procedures performed within Interventional Radiology and CT/MRI who is also keen to develop their leadership skills and support the senior nursing team.

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital with potential cross-cover at Poole Hospital

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered nurse, educated to diploma or degree level
  • Teaching and assessing course/ mentorship in practice course or NMC supervising learners in practice approved.

Desirable

  • Evidence of a post registration qualification or approved training course in leadership and management
Experience

Essential

  • Experience in interventional radiology or a similar interventional speciality
  • Leading staff skills

Desirable

  • Management experience.
Technical Skills Competencies

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate professional knowledge and expertise underpinning transferable general nursing duties.
  • Demonstrate need for strict asepsis, the technical nursing skills and competencies required for IR procedures.
  • IV Therapy Skills & Competency
  • Conscious sedation skills
  • IT skills for accessing intranet and data bases relating to radiology information systems..

Desirable

  • IV cannulation
  • Recruitment and Selection skills
  • Appraisal skills
Knowledge

Essential

  • Shows a good understanding of peripheral vascular disease, urology and gastro-intestinal disease
  • Evidence and awareness for leadership/management skills and experience with implementing change
  • Continuous staff development
  • Understanding of Trust Policies and NHS Policies on Quality Improvement projects
  • Trust Quality Strategies.
