Design Manager / Architect
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager / Architect to join a well-established contractor, supporting the successful delivery of Design & Build (D&B) projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a Lead Consultant, Lead Designer, Design Manager, Architect, or similar, with a strong understanding of both design delivery and wider project management.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to completion.
* Coordinate architects, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
* Manage design programmes, design responsibility matrices, information release schedules, and technical deliverables.
* Ensure designs are coordinated, compliant, buildable, and delivered in line with programme and project requirements.
* Work closely with the Senior Project Manager and Project Director.
* Lead design meetings, reviews, workshops, and coordination activities.
* Manage design changes, RFIs, variations, risks, and technical issues.
* Support tendering, value engineering, procurement, and commercial activities.
* Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
* Ensure design and construction quality, health & safety, and regulatory requirements are met.
Experience & Skills
* Relevant qualification in Architecture, Design, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in a Design Manager / Architect / Lead Designer / Lead Consultant role.
* Strong Design & Build project experience.
* Comprehensive understanding of project management, programme, procurement, commercial, risk, and construction delivery.
* Strong leadership, coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Good understanding of buildability, construction processes, and technical design.
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable
* Main contractor / D&B contractor experience.
* Experience with BIM, Revit, Navisworks, Viewpoint, or similar CDE platforms.
* Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and specialist subcontractor design
