We are looking for a talented Electrical Design Engineer or Senior to join our clients Building Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in building services design who is looking to develop their career while working on a diverse portfolio of exciting projects. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality electrical building services designs from concept through to completion. The role offers the opportunity to work across a range of sectors while developing your technical expertise and contributing to innovative, sustainable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical building services systems for a variety of projects.
- Produce electrical designs for low voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, fire alarms, security systems, and data infrastructure.
- Prepare calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and other project disciplines.
- Attend design meetings, client meetings, and site visits as required.
- Ensure designs comply with UK Building Regulations, BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), CIBSE guidance, and relevant British Standards.
- Assist with project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
- Support senior engineers and contribute to technical discussions and design reviews.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, regulations, and emerging technologies.
About You
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy or contractor environment.
- Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, and general building electrical services.
- Experience using industry-standard software such as Amtech (Trimble ProDesign), Dialux EVO or Relux, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- A good understanding of UK Building Regulations, BS 7671, CIBSE guidance, and relevant British Standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
