The Engineering Department at Coleg Menai, Llangefni, is a highly successful, technologically advanced and forward-thinking department offering courses across a range of disciplines and levels, ranging from Level 1 Foundation to Higher Education Level 5.
Teaching and learning take place with access to industry-standard equipment and within modern facilities and workshops. We are seeking a suitably trained and qualified individual to join the Department and assist us in educating and training the workforce of the future for Anglesey and beyond.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well-organised and committed individual with experience in Electrical & Electronic engineering, both theory and practical skills. A background in aviation or nuclear would be a strong advantage to any applicant, as we strive to meet the demands of local industry now and for the future.
Do not panic, you will learn on the job and undertake a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification as part of your professional development. What we need from the get-go is enthusiasm and the confidence to teach young people what you know about the topics required within your area of expertise.
The department delivers a wide range of provision, including full-time courses, part-time courses,
apprenticeships and the 1416 curriculum in partnership with local secondary schools. We currently have a strong team of lecturers in areas such as Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology and Welding and Fabrication, alongside practical skills supervisors.
The role of the Lecturer will involve delivering high-quality education to learners across a range of qualifications and levels, on full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes. The role will include delivering theoretical sessions in the classroom, delivering practical instruction in the workshop when required, and providing ongoing tutorial support to ensure learners succeed and reach their target grades.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high standards of teaching and learning and provide ongoing support, advice and guidance that promotes learner success. Contract type - Permanent
835 hours annual teaching time 24 to 26 hours teaching per week.
