Electrical Engineer (Renewable Energy)
Location:
East Coast Scotland Salary:
Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with a background in High Voltage (HV) systems looking to play a key role in the operation of critical renewable energy assets? We're recruiting on behalf of a leading owner and operator within the renewable energy sector for an Electrical Engineer to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a major generation asset. This is a client-side engineering role where you'll act as the technical authority for electrical systems, working closely with operations teams and specialist contractors to maximise plant availability and long-term asset performance. This isn't a purely desk-based design role, nor is it a position where you'll spend every day on the tools. Instead, you'll combine technical engineering expertise with contractor management, maintenance planning and project delivery, stepping in as the first point of technical escalation for electrical issues. Perhaps the biggest attraction is the opportunity to genuinely shape the role. The business is looking for someone who wants to take ownership, challenge existing approaches where appropriate and help develop the electrical engineering function over the coming years. Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of HV electrical systems. Lead electrical fault investigations and support root cause analysis. Manage specialist electrical contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standards. Support planned maintenance, outages and improvement projects. Monitor asset performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and availability. Review maintenance strategies and engineering standards. Ensure compliance with electrical safety legislation, industry standards and company procedures. Work closely with operations, engineering and asset management teams to deliver long-term asset performance. What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in engineers who have progressed through practical, hands-on engineering roles and have experience in: High Voltage electrical systems. HV switchgear, transformers and protection systems. Electrical fault finding and maintenance. Power distribution and asset reliability. Contractor management. Planned maintenance and outage activities. Experience within renewable energy would be advantageous, however engineers from wider power generation, transmission & distribution, utilities or other heavy industrial environments with strong HV experience are also encouraged to apply. Qualifications & Experience
HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Strong practical background in electrical maintenance and fault finding. Experience working with HV electrical infrastructure. Good understanding of electrical safety procedures and permit systems. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Full UK driving licence. Package
