Due to planned growth, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the team. We specialise in manufacturing and processing timber. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to join a dynamic, established but growing company.

The Role

We're looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team at our client's Lockerbie site, maintaining a wide range of automated production machinery and industrial electrical equipment.

Reporting to the Shift Engineering Supervisor, you'll carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and breakdown response across a fast-paced production environment, helping maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.

This role would suit someone from manufacturing, heavy industry, agricultural engineering, plant maintenance, quarrying, mining or similar hands-on mechanical backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Respond to electrical breakdowns quickly and efficiently
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults
  • Maintain and repair:
    • Motors
    • Drives and inverters
    • Electrical control panels
    • Sensors
    • Switchgear
    • Industrial electrical systems
  • Fault-find on Siemens and Schneider PLC-controlled machinery
  • Assist with PLC modifications where required
  • Carry out workshop repairs and on-site maintenance
  • Work safely in accordance with permit systems and risk assessments
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have practical electrical engineering experience.

Ideally you'll have:

  • A recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (time served also eligible)
  • Experience within manufacturing, production or industrial maintenance
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with motors, drives, control panels and industrial electrical systems
  • Basic PLC knowledge or awareness (programming experience beneficial but not essential)
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team

Shift Pattern

Rotating weekly:

Early Shift

Monday-Friday
5:30am-2:30pm

Back Shift

Monday-Friday
2:00pm-10:30pm

Night Shift

Monday-Thursday
7:00pm-6:00am

  • Paid 30-minute break
  • Night shift includes an additional paid 15-minute break

Overtime & Bonus

Regular overtime is available, particularly Saturdays (6:00am-2:00pm).

Overtime rates:

  • First 5 hours: Time and a Half
  • Thereafter: Double Time

Employees also benefit from a production bonus (if production targets are hit), paid every six months, with a minimum payment of £250 .
