Electrical Assembly & Test Technician Salary: c£32-36k + Bonus + Overtime +Benefits Location: Cambridgeshire Ref: ABJ6756 We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to join a well-established and growing engineering and manufacturing organisation. As an Electrical Assembly & Test Technician, you will be responsible for the electrical assembly, wiring and testing of industrial machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring machines are correctly wired, tested and ready for commissioning. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects supporting the build and testing of complex industrial machinery within a stable and supportive engineering environment. This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality machine build, electrical testing and continuous improvement. Perm: Onsite Key Responsibilities • Wire and connect complete electrical systems across machinery, including sensors, motors, actuators and interconnects • Carry out functional testing, I/O checks and basic electrical fault-finding prior to commissioning • Assist in verifying signal paths and validating safe operation before software upload or HMI integration • Read and interpret electrical schematics, layout drawings and structured BOMs • Support electrical installation tasks around the factory, including lighting circuits, distribution boards and equipment upgrades • Assist with new machinery installations and electrical improvement projects within production areas • Collaborate with other departments during machine build, including routing, alignment and system integration activities • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping • Ensure all electrical assembly and testing work is completed to a consistently high standard Qualifications / Experience • Solid background in machine wiring or industrial electrical assembly • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring documentation • Practical experience with control devices, drives, sensors and motors, including DOL and VFD configurations • Confident identifying and resolving electrical faults during build and testing • Electrical installation experience within an industrial, commercial or domestic environment • Recognised electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or equivalent • Exposure to automation systems, PLC/HMI architecture or drive commissioning tools • Background in food machinery, process equipment or OEM manufacturing environments Salary & Benefits - £34,000 – £36,000 per annum (316-18 / hr.) + bonus + Regular overtime available, paid at 1.5x rate 20 days holiday + bank holidays, rising to 26 days with service Pension scheme; Life assurance. Working Hours – 36 Hours - Early Friday finish; 30-minute lunch break. You will be working on complete machinery rather than repetitive electrical assembly, giving you the opportunity to develop your experience across wiring, testing, fault-finding, machine integration and eventually commissioning.
