RecruitME is recruiting for a Shift Plant Operator to join a modern energy-from-waste facility in Stoke-on-Trent.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a safety-critical power-generation environment, controlling and monitoring boiler and turbine operations to support the safe, reliable and efficient generation of steam.
Previous energy-from-waste experience would be a significant advantage, although applications are also welcomed from candidates with relevant boiler, power generation, manufacturing, chemical, utilities or other heavy-process industry experience.

Shift pattern and hours
You will work an average of 42 hours per week across a 28-day rotating shift pattern. The rota consists of seven 12-hour day shifts and seven 12-hour night shifts during each 28-day period.
Day shifts: 07:00-19:00
Night shifts: 19:00-07:00
Seven day shifts and seven night shifts over each 28-day rota
Working hours will follow the shift pattern issued by the company
The role
Working as part of the shift operations team, you will control and monitor plant equipment to maintain safe, compliant and efficient performance.
Operating and monitoring the plants boilers and turbine
Supporting the optimum generation of steam
Monitoring and improving overall plant performance
Measuring and controlling temperature, pressure and flow
Using instrumentation, gauges and the DCS control system
Taking corrective action when operating conditions move outside required parameters
Responding promptly to alarms, faults, blockages and changing plant conditions
Supporting planned and unplanned repairs
Maintaining accurate operational readings and detailed shift logs
Coordinating incoming waste and outgoing materials
Operating the overhead waste crane in accordance with site procedures
Loading and unloading vehicles when required
Using an FLT to maintain material supplies and remove ash waste
C ompleting plant cleaning and housekeeping schedules
Working safely at height and in confined spaces when required
Highly desirable experience
Experience within an energy-from-waste, biomass, power-generation or thermal-processing facility would be a major advantage.
Experience using DCS control systems
Mechanical, electrical, process or instrumentation engineering experience
An engineering apprenticeship
COSHH and HAZOP knowledge
FLT or front-loading shovel qualifications
City & Guilds Small Thermal Plant qualification
BOAS or an equivalent boiler-operation qualification
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
