Engineering technician - mechanical, mechatronics or electrical Advanced Biomedical Technology | West London full time on site This is a rare opportunity to join a growing company at the forefront of advanced biomedical engineering. The Company An innovative West London–based biomedical start-up, is designing and manufacturing advanced laboratory and clinical cell-manufacturing equipment. Their technology is revolutionising healthcare by automating the production of stem cells with minimal human intervention. Their systems integrate, mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, robotics/mechatronics, fluid control, and instrumentation technology The Role As an Engineering Technician, you will work across a broad range of activities including: * Mechanical assembly of enclosures, structures, robotic components, small drives and actuators, senors and actuators, PCBAs, small looms, pipes and specialist consumable items. * In house and client-based fault finding, rectification and diagnostics * Supplier liaison * Component-level testing and commissioning This is a hands-on, varied position within a highly technical and fast-moving environment. Full training and instruction will be given and previous medical or assembly experience is NOT essential What We’re Looking For The bar is high — but open to all backgrounds, even Selection is based on what you can demonstrate now. Essential Requirements: * NVQ, ONC/D, HNC/D, in Mechanical, Mechatronics , electrical or Instrumentation Engineering. * Good understanding of engineering principles * Able to read and interpret engineering drawings inc some knowledge of BS8888, * Minimum 3 years of practical engineering experience of technical assembly following instructions, drawings, schematics within mechanical, electromechanical, robotics, sensors, fluids or instrumentation. * Experience of working in a regulated industry aerospace, avionics, defence, nuclear, motorsport, automotive or similar * Demonstrated ability to apply original thought and affect change (not simply follow instructions) * Strong structured thinking — able to explain reasoning clearly (e.g. using “5 Whys” problem-solving) * Clear, concise and effective communication skills within a team-focused environment * Right to work in UK indefinitely * Commutable of west London or willing to relocate Desirable * 5 years plus experience as a technician within an instrumentation, process control, medical devices, robotic or fluidic systems environment * Ability to read simple electrical/fluid schematics and use hand tools * soldering to IPC level * manual/low volume machining * light fabrication * ISO EN 13485 We’re looking for individuals with curiosity, structured thinking, and the confidence to improve procedures— not just maintain them.
